Athlete 101: The First Step in a Healthy, Lifelong Athletic Career

Athlete 101 helps youth athletes aged 6-11 become stronger, faster, and more coordinated. They learn the fundamentals of athletic movement. And best of all, they have fun doing it. These training sessions feel like play. Kids have a great time while getting better!

As they progress through Athlete 101, athletes can graduate to our Elite Athlete 101 where they are introduced to slightly more advanced athletic concepts.

Whatever your child decides to do in sports, Athlete 101 will help them perform at a higher level. The strength, speed and confidence they develop will serve them well throughout their lives.

What happens during an Athlete 101 class?

A typical Athlete 101 training class includes the following.

  • Dynamic Warmup: A sequence of movements that activate the muscles and prepare the body for exercise. Common movements include form running and other light stretches.

  • Speed & Movement: Multi-directional running, sprinting, jumping and other light plyometrics. We teach athletes the mechanics of changing direction and covering ground quickly.

  • Core Work: Includes exercises designed to build strength through the torso. Planks, bridges, and other movements for torso stability are common here.

  • Foundational Strength Block: Our trainers select easy-to-learn exercises for the class to perform. These are movements that do not require technical skill to perform. All exercises can be scaled or adapted to a specific athlete’s needs or ability.

  • Play-Based Challenge: An activity that develops teamwork along with speed or strength. Common challenges include races or other forms of light, fun competition.

  • Motivational Message and MVP: Sessions wrap up with the coach giving props to class participants who showed great ability or effort.

I have been working with Coach Heather since the age of 10, and she has shaped me into a better athlete. Being able to work with other athletes also helps me to grow as a competitor while also getting a great workout in!

The changes I saw in Cooper were exactly what we were looking for. His growth in athletics and from a vocal standpoint in becoming a leader were really becoming evident. We were so happy after 3 months that we signed up for another year!
